CLOT x NIKE - CLOTEZ

Inspiring and co-working with CLOT Founder and Creative Director Edison Chen to create a 3-in-1 design inspired by the yin-yang philosophy.

We first met in 2018 at the Nike: On Air contest, the Air Max design titled “Kung Fu Soul” by the contestant served as the original base for the CLOT x Nike Cortez “CLOTEZ”

Debuting in a clean “Black/White” colorway, the most essential expression of Tai Chi is explored with a focus on the fluidity and change in the ancient martial art. The yin-yang symbol is reimagined as a transformable design that encapsulates a kung fu shoe-inspired silhouette.

The 3-in-1 CLOT x Nike “CLOTEZ” starts with an indoor house shoe based on the design of the Cortez. The shoe features premium white leather uppers, contrasting black Swooshes, and nylon tongues. Additional detailing comes in the form of tongue tags, and Chinese characters “功” and “夫” (kung Fu) embroidered at the heels.

The accompanying slip-on to be worn on the inner shoe comes in matte black and resembles traditional kung fu apparel. Aside from serrated outsoles, the slip-on also features drawstring fastenings with the yin-yang symbol. Finally, each “CLOTEZ” comes complete with a detachable insole for the slip-on for extra comfort.
Serving as a follow-up to the celebrated yin-yang-inspired “Black/White” Nike “CLOTEZ",  a sequel “Yellow/Black” colorway had been released and crafted to honor Bruce Lee.

Celebrating one of the greatest and most influential martial artists of all time, the two-tone color scheme draws from the iconic jumpsuit worn by Bruce Lee in 1979’s Game of Death.
As the third and final release of the CLOT x Nike "CLOTEZ" trilogy, featuring a classic red/white/blue colorway in tribute to the OG Nike Cortez '72. The shoe is topped off with Yin-Yang and Kung Fu-inspired elements, showcasing CLOT's signature East-meets-West approach.
